SOLUTIONS FOR THE MODERNISATION OF COLTERM TIMIȘOARA

Abstract

District heat is currently providing the cheapest alternative to thermal energy. Of course, this system is facing the challenges of our times – related to the losses in the distribution network, production costs, the possibility of using alternative (renewable) fuels and, not in the last, the customers degree of satisfaction. In our paper we perform a SWOT analysis of the thermal energy distribution system in Romania. The case study will refer to the local district heat company of Timisoara, SC Colterm SA. For this company, its current situation will be analyzed – including the McKinsey matrix, and solution for the modernization will be proposed, directly referring to cogeneration solutions for the thermal energy, losses reduction solutions, pollution reduction solutions.
